Allegro Seafood Grill, situated in the heart of Newark’s Ironbound district, officially opened its doors on November 6, 2017, realizing the long-held dream of its owner, Paulo Marralheiro. Born in Valencia, Venezuela, into a family deeply rooted in the restaurant industry, Paulo was raised with a profound appreciation for gastronomy, hospitality, and hard work. After spending time in Portugal, he emigrated to the United States in 1987 to pursue new opportunities. While he found success in other business ventures, his true passion—inspired by his family’s heritage—always remained the culinary arts.
Today, Allegro Seafood Grill stands as a reflection of that passion and a tribute to Paulo’s Portuguese roots. The restaurant offers a premier dining experience that blends fresh seafood and traditional Portuguese cuisine within an elegant and welcoming atmosphere. The space is distinguished by its sophisticated décor, featuring an impressive saltwater aquarium and a lush outdoor patio complete with palm trees, bamboo, and a tranquil waterfall—creating a unique oasis in the Ironbound.
